Dear Friends in Christ, Autumn begins this Tuesday, September 22, and we will continue to see the falling leaves change colors, the temperatures drop, and the days become shorter. The changing of seasons is an opportunity to take stock of our lives in this year of our Lord 2026, and that includes our life as a faith community.

Our One Parish Planning process is designed so that the community helps guide the vision and direction of our new parish. The Reality Report, including the financial update, provides an important foundation for that work. This October, you are invited to the table to share your voice and help discern who we want to become as one parish. With a clear understanding of where we are today, we can thoughtfully consider where God is calling us next. Your participation matters. Advocacy and Caring for Children (ACC) is selling tulip and daffodil bulbs, generously donated by the Washington Bulb Company of Mt. Vernon. All proceeds benefit Catholic Community Services agencies and other nonprofits that serve children and families. Help us help children in need! You can access the order form via the link button. Planning is underway for this year's Holiday Bazaar. If you would like to be involved in any way, please contact Katie Fleming We need vendors (individual handcrafted items only and non-profits), pie makers, volunteers for planning, and day-of help. It is held at St Catherine’s, but let's make it the mother of our parish and community events, with participation from all our churches! If nothing else, mark your calendars for November 21-22 to attend!

Join in with parishioners from the Northeast Catholic Community for a day of prayer, study, and Christian community to reflect on the Beauty and Challenge of Catholicism. Our speaker is Fr. John Edmunds, ST (Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity), a gifted speaker and teacher with 50 years of experience as a priest, pastor, and leader of his congregation. Dear Friends in Christ, Now that the summer recess is more or less over and students are returning to school, the stores are beginning to market upcoming holidays, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and even Christmas!

Volunteers are needed to provide food and beverages for the upcoming Tent City 4 meal Sunday dates: September 27, and October 25, November 22. Our NE Seattle Catholic Community continues to provide a monthly fourth Sunday supper for Tent City 4 at its Lake City location through April 2027. More than 60 households have helped provide meals for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, and campers are deeply grateful for the support. Questions? Join YCP Seattle and Portland for a fun Oktoberfest weekend in beautiful Mt. Angel, OR. Enjoy Bavarian culture, live music, local food and drink, and the grounds of Mt. Angel Abbey. A limited number of shuttle seats from Portland to Mt. Angel are available for Saturday, with an optional guided Abbey tour for YCP members. Sunday, September 27, after the 5:00 pm Mass in Assumption Parish Hall, parishioner Mary Fontana will discuss her recent book, Strangers in the Province of Joy: Practicing Radical Hospitality at the Border. Mary will share about the ministry of Annunciation House in El Paso, welcoming asylum seekers. Stay after Mass to be nourished and informed! 6:30 - 8 pm, Refreshments will be served.

Last November, each parish held listening sessions, and those conversations became the four "Who Are We" reports — one for each parish. Now we will ask, "Who Do We Want to Become?" This is the heart of the journey. Having named who we are, we now ask together who God is calling us to become as one new parish — and what opportunities and challenges will shape that future. Heavenly Hikers recently ventured to EVANS Creek Preserve in Redmond for fun & fellowship on the trails! Stay tuned for more hiking events to attend!

We had another successful session Aug 5, 6- 8 p.m., at FLL - not only did we fill all 10 volunteer spots, but we also worked with folks from Boeing and other groups to sort and pack nearly 18,000 packets of miso soup.

Beginning in September, the NE Seattle Catholic Family of Parishes will incorporate the wisdom of the Catholic Social Teachings into Mass, education, parish events, and weekly messaging, with the hope of infusing this information into our everyday lives.
