PREPARES is a statewide Catholic ministry sponsored by the Washington State Catholic bishops that provides compassionate, life affirming support to families from pregnancy through a child's fifth birthday. Through a network of parish volunteers and Catholic Community Services, PREPARES walks alongside parents by offering encouragement, practical assistance, and meaningful relationships. Services are available to all families, regardless of religious affiliation, with a special focus on those facing financial hardship.

As a ministry of the Northeast Seattle Catholic Community, we are building a parish family network to support local families through PREPARES. Our ministry is coordinated by Judy Curran and Mary Jo Gasparich, who are working with Catholic Community Services and our parish St. Vincent de Paul conferences to discern the best ways our parish family can serve this important mission.

There are many ways to get involved, including:

• Family Companions – Build a caring relationship with a local parent by offering friendship, encouragement, and practical support through regular visits.
• Clothing & Diaper Closet – Help provide essential baby and children's items for families in need. Diapers, in particular, are always in high demand and are not covered by food assistance programs.
• Fatherhood Ministry – Support opportunities for fathers to connect, encourage one another, and grow in their role as parents.
• Fundraising & Donations – Help sustain this ministry through financial support or by organizing donation drives for essential family items.
