Inspired by Discerning Deacons, and with Father Bill’s support, our Phoebe Circle continues to elevate women’s voices in our community. The weekend of July 19th and 20th, two women from our Phoebe Circle will share reflections at Mass.
Chris Covey (OLL - Sat. 5 pm/Sun. 11 am, and Assumption - Sun. 9 am) has been active at OLL for 10 years, serving in the Mother Teresa Guild, peace and justice committee, and as a sacristan and altar server. She currently serves on our Parish Family Advisory Council. In addition to her activities at church, she volunteers as a Master Gardener in Snohomish County and teaches classes at the Seattle Children’s Alyssa Burnett Center, a community for adults with autism and intellectual disabilities.
Rose Hesselbrock (St. Catherine's Sat. 5 pm and Sun. 11 am), a parishioner of St. Therese parish in Madrona, earned a Master's in Theology from Seattle University in 2022. She served on the St. Therese Pastoral Council and will be co-chairing the joint parish family Social and Faith Justice Commission for their Parish Family. Rose has offered reflections a number of times for the St. Mary Zoom church, at St. Therese, for US Catholic magazine, and most recently, at St. Joseph. She and her husband, Tom, are founding members of Discerning Deacons, whose mission is to help the Church discern the question of women’s restoration to the Permanent Diaconate.
