Dear Friends in Christ,

This Sunday, a group of high school students from St. Catherine’s will journey with their adult chaperones on the annual Esperanza Mission Trip to build homes in Tijuana, Mexico. Thanks to Katie Fleming and all those who support these young people by donating their time and labor to help families who could not otherwise afford a home.

This group reminds us of our call to be stewards of our time, talent, and treasure. Stewardship is about daily acknowledging that everything we have is a gift from God. We show our gratitude for these gifts and our faith in God’s continued providence for our lives by regularly giving something back. The ideal is to make this a central practice in our Catholic lives. Please check our family media announcements for opportunities to share your faith in service of others.

One part of stewardship is, of course, our financial giving to support the life and ministries of the Church. Thanks to all you who generously do that on a regular basis. It requires sacrifice and commitment no doubt, but most good and important things do. I ask everyone to review their giving to the church and make it a frequent practice in your lives. Let’s unite in considering the words of Psalm 116: What return shall I make to the Lord for all the good he has done for me?
