The month of May has begun and is already moving right along with the next wave of significant moments in our life as a NE Seattle Catholic Community. This Saturday, May 9th, is the first of our two celebrations of First Holy Communion for some 80 children in our family of parishes. Receiving the precious body and blood of the Lord is meant to draw these beloveds into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Christ and his church. Thanks to all our parents, teachers, and catechists for supporting our children during this important sacramental moment in their lives. Please remind them that the only thing more important than one’s first holy communion is their second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. In other words, we hope to see them coming to the table of the Lord often!
The other special moment we celebrate this month is the sacrament ofconfirmation. 75 of our youth ages 12-14, and 10 adults (It’s never too late!) will receive this sacrament of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation is given to strengthen them in living their Christian lives and to deepen their relationship with the community of the church. Thanks to all their families, sponsors, and catechists who have helped prepare them for this special moment in their sacramental lives. Please remind them that this is not a graduation celebration, but a completion of their initiation into the sacramental life of the church.
Blessings to all in our family, receiving these wonderful graces this month!
