A St. Vincent de Paul Donor Appreciation Event was held on Saturday, June 7th, at St. Catherine Victoria Hall. This was to thank our donors from all four parishes for their financial contributions to SVdP. There was good attendance, good food, and good fellowship. There were 12 SVdP trivia questions to challenge the attendees, and several people got 11 answers correct. Bravo! Sincere thanks to all our SVdP donors, and sincere thanks to the students and families of our three parish schools who provide donations of food and personal hygiene items for our pantries.

May is PREPARES Baby Drive!!! In May, we honor the Blessed Mother and celebrate Mother’s Day! Our four-parish church family is doing just that with our May Baby Drive to restock the PREPARES headquarters Baby Boutique at St. Edwards and the Christ the King baby closet. Our most needed items are: baby wipes; diapers sizes 5,6,7; clothing sizes 18 mo. To 5T. Other diaper sizes and clothing sizes are always needed as well. Also, diaper bag backpacks are appreciated by new moms. We are unable to accept car baby seats. All four parishes will have PREPARES donation sites in the parish narthex. Our wonderful PREPARES volunteers will deliver the donations to the baby closets. PREPARES in our state just celebrated 10 years of ministry! PREPARES has grown to 197 parishes assisting parents in need during pregnancy and the first five years of their children’s lives. None of this would be possible without the generous donations of parishes like ours. Please join us in May by supporting this pro-life, pro-family organization with your contributions to our baby closets. For questions about our Baby Drive or to volunteer, please contact: St. Bridget: Judy Curran, jcurran2@msn.com; Mary Jo Gasparich, maryjogaparich@gmail.com Assumption: Stephanie Read, walkerread@comcast.net Our Lady of the Lake: Mary Margaret Brown: mmbrown@hotmail.com St. Catherine: Katie Fleming, kjfleming1239@gmail.com

Luke came to Christ as we did,
as our Christian neighbors did,
not as an eyewitness
to what Jesus said and did,
but through the witness of other believers
and his own experience.
Luke’s stories of Gentile outsiders
speak more directly to us
about change and new life
than the Jewish background stories
in the other three gospels.
Invite a neighbor or friend
and come to hear more.

It takes 1,000 volunteer blood donors each day to maintain a safe and reliable blood supply for patients in the Pacific Northwest needing blood for surgeries, cancer treatments, and bleeding disorders. The need is great, yet less than 3% of eligible people donate blood. Local hospitals rely on all of us to give regularly, up to six times a year, to ensure lifesaving transfusions are available for all of the seriously ill and injured patients in our community. Giving blood is easy; in less than an hour and in one pint of blood, you’ve truly saved a life. Please make a blood donation appointment today and give at Assumption Catholic Church on April 22. To sign up, call 1-800-398-788 or visit https://www.bloodworksnw.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/redirectgroup.html?s=1485 As an added bonus, all donors who give in April can enter to win a dream vacation to Maui for two.
